What is Stainless Steel? Stainless steel is a type of alloy, meaning that it is made from several metals. Also known as inox, it contains a minimum of 10.5% chromium. Stainless stell does not corrode, stain or rust as easily as normal steel. Stainless steel in used in a number of materials such as cookware, cutlery, hardware, surgical instruments, major appliances, industrial equipment and is also used commonly in the automotive and aerospace inedustries as well as in the production of large buildings. There are over 150 grades of stainless steel.
